Used parts sourcing - GT350 build
hi all
long time no post. usual story - wife, kids, no time, less money!
Still tinkering in the shed and looking for some advice from the members.
I'm thinking seriously about turning my fastback into a GT350 replica. No reason other than ive owned it for 15 years now and just want to freshen things up a little.
I dont want to turn the car into a brand new advert for taiwanese made parts. I like that the chrome on my door handles isnt perfect. Its called patina!
So, what are my chances of finding some used parts in good condition and where would i start looking?
Im after things like a deluxe steering wheel (i can get a new center cap), some shelby style rotunda mirrors (both sides), magnum 500 wheels, rear bumper guards and so on.
thanks guys!

I'm not sure of the options in Australia. Here in the US, I'd go to some of the bigger all Ford swap meets for that stuff. Go early, if you wait until the show opens you'll miss out on things. Many times, I buy a booth space just so I can get in the night before :-) Then you can get deals before the public enters.
E-bay is OK, I've never had a bad transaction, but you're buying off a photo, and things always photograph better than they look. So it can be a bit of a crap-shoot. You could try some of the Mustang/Ford only auto salvage places, but again, you're shipping is going to cost a lot, unless there is a suitable salvage yard in Australia?
