Default DriveShaft Play??

Greetings all-

-Project 68 is almost done! I have one quick question--its been a long time since I've dealt with a driveshaft-

-How much should it move from the front to the back when installed?? If I push it all the way forward (into the transmission) it takes 1/8" untill it reaches the rear diff yoke--is that good/ alright?

Any info would be awesome! Thanks all!

umm i am not sure but i know its small cause it has to allow for the variable geometric changes that occur when going over speed humps and other things in the road but i am not sure what it supposed to be but you could call a local garage and ask also

I just got off the phone with that, and a custom driveshaft shop said 1". Does that seem like a lot to anyone? I would have figured maybe 1/2" but 1" ?? Anyone have feedback??

1" sounds pretty close. If you only have 1/8" of play, you're going to be damaging your tranny, driveshaft, and rear end.
