Howdy. The bushing is split down the side, and has a small round shoulder on one end. The bushing slides over the steering shaft, and the shoulder bottoms out against the metal retainer in the top of the column to keep the shaft centered in the column. I have mine apart right now, so I'll try to post some pics later...
