thanks for your kind help so far.
I don't think bad of currie. never heard bad and neither did I shop with em. just wanted to know if someone knows anyone else where I could ask.
with further resaerch i found mustangplus.com who sell 3rd members as well.
Problem I have is that I don't have a garage to take it all apart and have a look what's going wrong
I'll bring the car to the garage for the wheel bearings and will ask them to check on the rear end. See what they say about this.
Never ending story that car.
Last week some bollox smashed in the small triangle window to steal a car radio 50$ worth ... wish I had left the doors open ..
and I'll check on the uk mustang club as well. see what they have in "stock" ;-)
JMD: I might take you up on the rearend :-) where do you live ?

great !
that's two hits with 7.5" :-) that explains things. I'll go over tonight and make sure to take a picture of the label to have the stock rear confirmed (7.5").
What would I need to change then ?
Full axle with 3rd member ?
The only thing here is I want to keep my brakes and my 4-lug wheels. I find they're **** hot
would I need to change the drivetrain as well ? In case I want to upgrade to 8" ?

I haven't found _any_ reference on google for 7.5 inch rear on 1964-1966 classic mustangs. the only ones that I found are Mustangs far above 1980 with that size.
It's lunch in an hour here. And I'll go and get picture of the full beauty of the axle and label :-)

I don't know much about gear ratios but I guess it's not a 2:1. far too extreme for what it feels.
