thanks for your kind help so far.
JMD: I might take you up on the rearend :-) where do you live ?

I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA I dont know what the shipping will cost, but if it is worth it to you the offer for the axle stands, and I can even package the unit. It is true that the axle is somewhat light for a 289, but the one you had must have lasted a little while anyway. The car the unit came out of was a 66 coupe with only 66,000 miles. The axle seems sound (very tight) and to my estimation has about a 2.80 + or - ratio.

I dont really know how much it weighs but I can pick it up by myself easier than I canpick upone side of the 9" currie unit I replaced it with.

I am in the shipping buss., and I frequently ship overseas, but not this kind of freight, the cost that I could get you would not be competative.

Let me know if I can be of assistance!!

I haven't found _any_ reference on google for 7.5 inch rear on 1964-1966 classic mustangs. the only ones that I found are Mustangs far above 1980 with that size.
It's lunch in an hour here. And I'll go and get picture of the full beauty of the axle and label :-)

Kalli
You haven't found 7.5" rears for a 64 1/2 Mustang 6 banger because they don't exist. They are 7-1/4" integral carrier rear ends.

Hello Kalli, In reference to my previous post, another option might be for me to disassemble the unit and send the innards to you via fed-ex, ups, DHL somthing like that. It would save a ton on freight.

I would be happy to do that for you, could take apart tomorow and send out next week.

I have looked at the your photo's I am 99.5% sure that the rear end is the same as the one I have.

Best Wishes
JMD

That is a nice looking car, I love the stance. I would imagine that there are not too many clasic Mustangs in Ireland, let alone many (any) nice 64 1/2s that look like that! Way Cool!

We Should have my sons 66 back on the road tomorow, if the snow stops!

Hi all,

thanks Soaring (again!). this seems to be it .
now that I know the size I actually find loads of reference to it.

JMD: thank you very much for your very very kind offer (disassembly).

the first thing I'll do is to contact the Mostangshop mentioned, to see if they can provide me with:
8" upgrade, which I can bolt on and I don't loose my beloved 4-Lug wheels.
Seems like wheels and axle is all Falcon (as most of my car ....)
If they can't provide me with that, I'll definetly take you up on your offer.
In the end it won't be much more than 2 axles and the 3rd member that has to be shipped.

Oh I'm so glad I asked here for help.

JMD: actually i'm kinda stupid. If I get the parts of you, the only thing I need is the 3rd member ? right ? My spindles should fit ...
the bearings and seals I have, so I'll just wait to put them in

this is getting better and better :-)

I checked on fedex and USPS.
USPS is far cheaper and would deliver in 10 days for 100-150USD, which is really fine with me.
Can you post a picture of the thing ? If it's ok then I'd say we're good to go :-)

or drop me an email:
kalliz@gmx.de

thanks again !!!
