we charged 150.00 and included a surface but alot of places are around 150 without a resurface, bringing your total to 200-250

any more than that and they are starting into rape territory IMO

yeah if you find a good shop that is dependable, you can get an overbore, line hone, cylinder hone, valve job, and decking, the works for 500- 750

If you need guides and valves you will be 350-400 dollars around my neck of the woods. Small block Fords often need guides and valves.

Would it be a mistake to just do a valve job if you have a good running motor with over 100,000 miles on it?

if you have a good running motor why would you want to do a valve job?[&:]

for 269, does that include a resurface? it damn sure better for that price

67, honestly the valves and guides in small block fords are usually in very good shape, and we could compare to small block chevys which always had worn intake valve stems and sloppy exhaust guides. i did nothing but head work every day for 5 years and that is what my experience has been.

Well i'm not a motor guy lets get that out of the way. It seems to run good but it does have some valvetrain chatter. I dont know if it is a lifter sticking or if it is out of adjustment. I have replaced the exhaust gaskets so I know it is not that. The car sat for about 6 years before I got it without it being started. I have only driven it about 20 miles.

If the engine is not missing, you don't need a valve job. If it's rattling, then your tappets need adjusting.
