Default Capacitor conected to voltage regulator? 68"

I have a 1 wire capacitor "Autolite C60A-188832-4" that connected to the voltage regulator on my 68' I6, the wire broke off the capacitor making it unusable. I believe this capacitor might have to do with noise suppression for the radio, but that’s a hunch, not fact.

Anyone dealt with this and know where to find a new one, all my leads are coming up dead so far?

Thanks,

Deebo

Your hunch is correct. However, if you use resistor plugs and suppression wires, you dont' need this bit of old technology much anymore.

Yea, I am interested too. I have a capacitor on my 69. I wonder if it could just be bypassed.

Why would you want to bypass the capacitor? Remove it if you wish. You may get some static in your radio. And I think Ford still stocks them as D5AZA-18832-A.

You won't get any static in your radio. I took mine off years ago and even my old AM radio has no static.

I guess the removal falls into the class - 'parts not installed are not subject to failure'. To tell you the truth, I don't know if mine still work. They are there for 'looks'.

Ford p/n is D5AZ-18832-A. Sorry, one too many 'A's'. About three years ago, a friend got one a Ford dealer. It may have been under a Motorcraft service number.

Thanks for all the help, with all the good weather up here I've been outside putting on my radiator support and front right innder fender. I am also putting on my Laurel Mt Suspension kit as well, the old lady sure needed some attention, I can't wait to drive it again. Gonna be a late night.

I still have my old capacitor in my tool box. I wonder what it would be worth on Ebay? I also have the one that was connected to the voltage regulator.
