It's been a while!
Hi guys. I joined last year after I bought a 65 coupe, but didn't have much of a chance to post. I got into an accident last fall and have been sitting on the wreckage until recently. I had issues even finding a shop that would work on the Mustang through the insurance company. Now that things are finally rolling, I'm hoping I'll have it painted and ready to finish motor/interior in a month or so.
We're going with the original Poppy Red exterior and Black interior (with a few modifications to the dash.) My first questions concern engine details. I have a set of the infamous GT40P heads with valves and saddled rockers. What do I use as far as pushrods for this setup on my 289? I've read in a couple places stock 289 rods work, but I'm skeptical. Anybody with experience on this? Most of the info regarding these heads is on later-model 302 blocks. Thanks for any answers! http://black.plague.org/pictures/mus...05-07_1121.jpg |
RE: It's been a while!
Welcome back not so new n00b!
with mildly modded engines stock type rods should be able to handle it, but if you want to step it up a notch get some good welded cromoly rods. its your choice, the cromoly rods are expensive, in fact most rods are expensive. i had to buy summit brand cause i didnt have enough cash[:o] |
