I made one out of wood one time, but it was for my truck, not the mustang. Swap meets and ebay are your friends when it comes to a console.

It would be pretty easy and cheap to make one out of wood that included a couple of cup holders and a small tray. Some velcro or a couple of small sand bags (like ankle weights) attached to the tray should hold it down pretty good. It probably wouldn't look so good though. Maybe I'll try it anyway.[&:]

By the time you get done, I figure you would have spent almost as much as the Cruiser type.

Im not going to add all kinds of stuff to the console (if I decide to make one). Just a CD player and some gauges. I did this on "paint" real quik just to give you guys an idea. What kind of material would make a nice finish? and, what do you think of this idea.

Looks like balsa wood Jimmy. Or at least very thin plywood. I'm afraid the strength of that setup would be damn near nada. That's why plastic was invented.

It's actually 3/8" plywood... and it is quite sturdy. It turned out nicely.
