How many amps do headlights draw?
were talking normal, 3 prong round glass old school headlights. im looking into a taurus or mark VIII electric fan for the II but from what i read they gobble up about 30 amps of juice and my alternator is a 60 amp. will 30 amps be enough for my basic radio, msd box, and driving lights?
thoughts?

RE: How many amps do headlights draw?
I seem to remember that headlamps were rated at 55 watts, divided by 12 volts equals 4 1/2 amps per light. I don't remember if that was high or low beam. So figure 10 amps for headlights and add up the rest of current draw (I=P/V) items to see what youhave left over from a 55 amp alternator.
