ORIGINAL: ponyx2

The paperclip in the hole only removes the lock cylinder, the switch itself is held on by the bezel, which unscrews.
65-66 bezels don't actually unscrew at least not in the traditional sense, maybe 67s are different. You only need a fraction of a turn to release the bezel from the switch, while you are collapsing the tension spring behind the dash to unload the resistance on the bezel where it's hooked to the switch.

What did I do, leave out - 'jiggle'? The cylinder will not come out if you turn the key counter-clockwise (aka to da left), that's why it's called the accessory position. Now, in that accessory position, you use the paper clip technology and push in and go further left (aka counter-clockwise). Doing the 'push' and the 'twist' (was that a pair of Chubby Checker songs?) at the same time - works.

That's how to remove the lock cylinder. Jim has helped me on MANY items and I think we are talking of 2 different things. To take the actual switch out, the bezel has to be unscrewed, on a 67 for the switch part to be removed from the rear of the dash. It's all good, and glad you got it figured out. Flame suit on, just in case, LOL

There's a special tool for 67 and 68 ignition switches, not required on 64 thru 66.
