Installing 1966 Bumper Guards

Could anyone tell me how to mount the front and rear bumper guards on a 1966 mustang coupe. The bottom bolt shouldn't be a problem. I see a hole in the valance for that. I don't see where to attach the top. Does the bumper have to come off to mount the bumper guards? Thank you very much for the help

There is a right angle bracket that boltsto the inner arm on each side that provides the upper support point for the bumper guards. Go to www.npdlinks.com for some reference pictures. Use p/n 17B794-1A in your search.

Thanks for the help. I do have that part already. I haven't really looked at the front bumper guards yet. I was starting with the back. Is there any bracket for the rear bumper guard? Should there be a hole to mount the top bolt of the bumper guards in the rear valance?

For the rear, the bumper may have to be removed. If you do, don't forget to disconnect the license plate light wire first.
The top of the bumper guard is secured by a 5/16-18x1 1/4 bolt to a nut clip on the bumper guard from inside the trunk. The bottom of the bumper guards go to two different brackets. Each bracket is held to the body by two 5/16-18x1 1/4 bolts each, the right hand side to nut clips in the body and the left to nut clips on the bracket with the bolt coming in from the trunk. The guards, each, have a 5/16-18x1 1/4 bolt from the bracket to a nut clip on the guard.

tell me if this helps...the bolt that is used to secure it is the small one to the left of the larger bumper bracket bolt.
