cam for 347 stroker
ok well i am at another part in my project, the cam. i am looking for the best choice for my 347 stroker. any suggestions??? and take in mind that i am not looking for somthing for high rmps but more low end. but ialso want it to sound nastyy : )

Hi, good timing with this question, as I JUST had my 347 built. I'm not expert, but once you go 347 stroker, you've done more than just add a few cubes and some low end torque. You need ahigher lift in the cam than you probably first anticipated. If I was to keep the 302 non-stroked, I was gonna go just over or justunder.500 lift. I ended up buying the Trick Flow CNC ported Twisted Wedge 185cc heads and this Cam for my 347:

Hope the link works. Trick Flow rebrands this Crane Cam I bought as their Stage 2 cam for Small block Fords. Its gonna be nasty. Make sure you have a great cooling system as they tend to run hotter than a 302. Also, your heads need toflow better as well.
Building a 347 Stroker is tricky. Put some thought and research into options before you jump into just any cam and heads that work on a 302. Its a different beast. Read, read, read, ask,ask,ask...not many people are aware of how to build these, but there are some grat builders and resources out there. My engine is done and car should be ready in 3 weeks or so. I had to get my C4 auto tranny rebuilt as well. Stock c4 tranny won't hold a good 347.
As far as your "not looking for high RPMs" comment. The nature of the stroker is low end torque as it is. You NEED a high lift cam, which generally comes with higher duration, therefore higher RPMs to give you a nice full RPM power band. The stroker itself along with a rear end gear ratio of 3:50 or more will give you plenty of low end power. Better make sure you build the drivetrain etc to handle it. You're in a different league. I'm finding it extremely expensive all cuz of the idea to go stroker. Brakes, suspension, tranny, driveshaft, rear end....strength is expensive.

I plan on using the trickflow cnc twisted wedge heads and their stage 3 cam when I do mine but thats still a long ways off. desk top dyno puts it around 500hp and around 450 torque and a ruff idile

Low end and nasty idle don't go together. The wild idles are a result of the timing necessary to operate at higher rpm's effectively.
That said, a 230* @ 0.050" lift duration will give you a noticable idle, with good mid-range power.Get the lift around 0.500" to 0.525" with 1.6:1 rockers. Assuming you have a flat tappet, anyway.
