check your points, condensor and coil. if they seem ok, check if your getting a spark from your coil wire

NEED MORE INFO!!!!

Why does it turn slow? Is the battery up? Will it turn faster with a jump/battery charger with "start"?

Has the engine run since overhaul? Has the distributor been out since the car last ran?

Have you charged the battery?

A "new" battery is seldom fully charged, Unless the store has put the battery on a charger, it will only have a "surface charge". Sellers seldom charge new batteries anymore.

Start with a fresh charge on the battery, get the engine turning at the right speed, and then further investigate the non start issues.

With an older car, trouble shooting can be divided into 3 major catagories, Fuel, Ignition, Timing.
