Putting on Holley Heat Shiel with My 4 Hole Spacer

Putting on Holley Heat Shiel with My 4 Hole Spacer
Probably a stupid question so let me have it if necessary.
Currently running a Holley on inch 4 hole spacer. Added the spacer primarily to raise the carb/filterbase high enough so that awith rubber seal I have on topof it would be flush with a hole in hood (poor mans ram air).Heard the 4 hole gives better torque so went with that. In any case bought a heat shield due to having hard start problems when engine is hot.
The kit comes with an open phenolic spacer (3/8"),a bushed aluminum shield, and carb gasket. What I was questioning is what order from intake to carb should I installkit and the 1" 4 hole spacer.
If install heat shield on top of 1 inch spacer - I would be going from intake,4 hole spacer,3/8" open phenolic spacer, shield then carb. Which would seem to give me the best heat protection but was concerned about having open spacer inbetween carb and 4 hole spacer.
Could go intake, phenolic spacer, sheild,4 hole spacer, then carb but was concerned my not be getting best heat protection that way.
Again probably stupid question (would not be the first) - but what do you think?

RE: Putting on Holley Heat Shiel with My 4 Hole Spacer
Keep your four hole up to the carb. Tt should go - Intake - gasket - heatsheild - gasket - open spacer (if at all)- four hole spacer -carb. The reson I say if at all for the open spacer, is becuase its in the kit for people who dont already have a phenolic spacer. Im assuming your four hole is phenolic, not aluminum, so you already have the heat protection that gives. You can put it in if you want, but its up to you.

OK - Then---
Intake
Gasket
Heatshield
Open phenolic spacer
gasket
Aluminum four hole Spacer
gasket
Carby.
The gaskets are your choice depending on how well the various items seal, but to avoid possible vacuum leaks, I would go with the gaskets bteween everything.
Your other option, is to get yourself a 1" four hole phenolic spacer (to repalce you aluminum one), and dont fit the open one with the kit. Youcan prabably pick oneup for the cost of all the extra gasketsyou would otherwise need.
