I'm tall...
has anyone come up with a way to get your seat to scoot back further? i have seen the mod for the seat platform but that gives you head clearance... I need leg clearance. i have thought about scooting the whole assembly (seat tower) back and re locating wholes or fabricating a longer slide mechanism. any thoughts?
Relocating the holes is going to involve not only the holes in the seat risers but the floor pans as well. FWIW, my younger brother is 6'-7", almost all legs and still fits in his '66 vert ... of course he reclines the seat way back.
Hey,
Same problem here. I'm over 6' and need legs clearance in a 68 coupe. Although I have a smaller steering wheel, I can't get easily into the car...

I was thinking of tinkering with the tracks to make them longer or something. maybe weld another pice of track or something...
i am in the process of replacing my floor pans so if i do a permanent change it would be now as far as replacing the seat towers and what not.

Use two pieces of 1/4 x 2 bar about 18 inches (maybe more) long and make an extender. Place the bar between the seat and slider. For one seat, usingfour 5/16-18X1/4 or 3/8 long flat head screws to go into the seat base, and the fourspecial Phillips drive screws seat screwsshortened to clear and go into tapped holes in the bar. To attach to the car, use some 5/16-18X2.0 flat head screws tapped thru the bars and use the stock wide washer nuts. It has been done.
You ought to see the seatbase I made for a 4 ft 9 inch young lady. She can reach the pedals now.
