RE: 15x7 rally wheels tire size??????
Looks like you guys have already made up your minds about those 225/60/15s all around, our opinions are not going to change that...so go for those if you wish, I already posted my opinion.

on my stang, i currently have 14x7 magnum's with a 215/70 tire. ( http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/423483121.html ) no rubbing. my dad wants a 15x7 wheel, so IMO, he should get 215/60/15's. that should be fine for him cause the 215/60/15 is like the same hieght as a 215/70/14. and if i have no rubbing, then he would have no rubbing. you dig? alrighty well i think ive got it figured out now. just one question, plain and simple, yes or no, would he rubin the front if he gets a 225/60/15? thats all we really need to know. thank you.

If they have 3.75 you will rub with a 225 60 15

RE: 15x7 rally wheels tire size??????
Here is a series of images to help explain it a little bit because you have to look at width and height....not just height
Here are three rims all sitting next to each, different sizes different backspacing (you have to use your imagination a little):
Now...mount those rims on a car...
Now wrap all 3 rims with the same tire
As you can see the wheels with the larger backspacing will hold the tire in more from the right edge. You can do this up until a point where you start running into things on the left side (like suspension parts) and on a 15x7 wheel the magic number is 4.25 backspacing. This will maximize the amount of rubber you can put on the car.

I have 225/50/15 on 4.25 BS wheels with a Global West suspension and don't rub. That said, my tires are 13 years old with only about 100 miles on them but I've read that I should change them due to age. I'm thinking a 60 series tire may bea bit better and was hoping to go with 225's but am wondering if 215's will be the biggest I can safely go. Please post what you get and how it works for you.
