Headers DONT FIT! Please help me out.

Hey guys i just put in my hooker headers yesterday set up for a 351c 2v for a 1970 mustang and they dont fit! they slide in there nicley from the bottom but the instructions say to take of the passangers side idler arm from the firewall which is held by 2 bolts and then when you go to put it back on once you have your header in the bolt holes dont meet up because the header hangs to low so the idler arm has to come up about 1 inch to meetthe holes. i have 2 options, either send them back and get a refund and try to find some shortys or diffrent long tubes that will fit. or take it to a welding shope and have them fabricated to fit. also on the drivers side the flange is right agianst the floor which may cause alot of noise. i bought this setup from summit racing to fit my car specificly so it is the correct header. please let me know. maybe i did something wrong. thanks!!!

You can always heat the tubes up with a rosebud and move them a little.

+1
Whether on your car or in, Hookers suck. I have a set on my Falcon, and they wedge the engine tight between the steering gear box and idler arm. Send em back and get a set of Patriots. I bought a set (that didnt fit my car) and they were very well made. Nice thick flanges, smooth tubing and bends, and a heavy duty ball flange.

*EDIT- forgot you said its a kleveland. Sorry to hear. :D Im not sure if Patriot makes headers to fit the cleveland or not, but its worth a shot. If Summit doesnt carry Patriot, Jegs does.

went out to the car show tonight and they suggested taken it to the muffler shop and have them do it by heating the pipes and bending them. i would much rather stick with a longer tube for sound than the shorty. dont yall agree the longers sound better? how much do you think it would cost more to have that done? im putting on a set of flow 44s this week anyway so ill have it all done the same time.

Thats funny,, my hooker comps fit perfectly into my 69,, its a windsor.. You may want to check and be sure they sent you the right headers..

yeah. the cleav is a wider block tho. and it may be b/c my car used to be a 6c and now its a 351c so some components on the steering arnt set for the cleav. anyone know if the smaller patriots are good sounding headers? would it be better to just get the hookers bent?
