Window drain rails- 67 Coupe
How do you repair the rails above the windows. The passenger side one has rusted through in a couple of spots.Didn't know how to repair this.
Also,Has anyone ever taken the rail offand gone without them |

Ugh. Repairing the drip rails is no fun. As far removing them, do a google search for mustang shaved drip rails. There's a lot of chatter out there about removing drip rails.

You needs lots of skill to mess with those things and have them come out right. Might be wise to consult a body shop.

RE: Window drain rails- 67 Coupe
I used a wire wheel on a die grinder to remove all the seam sealer, then took a cut-off wheel and removed all the rusty metal. Be sure to grind down good...this area is where they seam together the roof, so there are a couple of layers. You hopefully will not have any rust on the vertical surface,(heading up to the roof). After you have it ground out, get a piece of 3/8" thick copper bar and hold itunderneath the area where there is no metal, and use a MIG welder to weld up the hole from the top. The steel will not stick to the copper, and after you have the top done, squirt the underneath and grind flush. I did mine this way and they turned out great. I did a little blending on the top before I reapplied the seam sealer. They're rust free and perfect now.
