mustang is on the rotisserie

RE: mustang is on the rotisserie
I put the strongest casters that harbor freight offered on mine. To stiffen up the frame work I welded a diagonal piece from the upright where the car is attached to the horizontal rod that attaches the front and rear. It is only a tach weld so I can remove it later but it doesnt seperate and it stiffened it up.

RE: mustang is on the rotisserie
Heres an update on this I fixed the issues i had with the rotisserie and finished stripping parts off the car. I also got the bracing done so I could roll it on its side. I took some pics of the rear attachments for those of you who asked.

I am assuming you bought that rotisserie. I found some plans online that explain how to make one. I was wondering if it is really beneficial to the resto job. I am about to begin my 66 coupe and am not sure how clean up the undercarriage.
I would like to avoid chemical dipping b/c i dont have the $ to invest in that. But rust is a HUGE concern for me. I am 22 and probably going to hold on to this car for a long time. I needto have a good foundation to build on.
I guess what I am asking anyone is, should I spend the $ on a store-bought rotisserie (~$1000), make one myself (~$350), or get a chemical dip to remove paint, rust, bondo, fiberglass, etc. (~$1600)?
Thanks a bunch.

FWIW, a friend and I used to make them and sell them on Ebay. If you have an welder and know how to weld, you can make one for under $200 in materials. Just a thought. I'd definitely try that before shelling out a grand. Ouch.

OK, to me, it looks like the center of gravity is high making the car very top heavy (don't let it get away from you). I attached the rear support to the bumper mounts with the pivit point about where the gas cap is. On the front, I used square tube steel and attached to the bumper mounts with thatpivit about 6" higher (L shaped) on the cross bar. I think if you look at the rear of thecar and draw a imaginary line thru the gas cap thru to the front and parallel to the floorand medial, you will hit it pretty close. I wouldrecommenddoing this before you get into the resto as you will end up flipping the car a hundred times and itwill be much easier if you can do it by yourself. Your rotesserie looks well made, It will only take a little fine tuning.

RE: mustang is on the rotisserie
It was off center at first but the latest pic with it laying on its side are center I found center by if it tried to rotate on its own it was to high and if it tried to turn back upright it was to low. I can now rotate it with 1 hand into any position I want. It was real nice not having to crawl under it remove everything else from under the car. Now I just need to get the frame rails and floor pan to start.

you need to have a talk with the wife and loose those curtains in your garage. That will solve all your porblems in A HURRY. How can you work with those things in there?
