convertible back seat brace in a coupe?

Does anyone know if the back seat panel from a convertible will bolt into a coupe? I have a theory that one of the reasons the rear windows leak and rust around the corners may be because the frame is flexing around them. I'd like to stiffen the frame there. Along the same lines, how about the rear torque boxes?

Thanks for the advice, I have learned the same from other guys since I posted this. The car came to me with a sheet metal panel someone cut out and bolted in with capscrews and nuts. I think I will just replace it with an aluminum diamond plate, and attach it with body-type bolts. I thinkthat would look good from the trunk side. It's a ways off right now, just planning ahead.
