RPM's

im hooking up a tach today so that i can adjust my AOD. where should the car shift at WOT? Is that basically how you adjust the shifting is to tighten the shift linkage if it shifts too late and loosen it if it shifts too early? Any advice would be great. never worked with this before.

new late 80's 302 roller block forged internals.stock heads and cam for now.

RE: RPM's

with forged internals you could spin it up to abour 6200rpm for the most power. some one help me if im wrong. the 94-95 cobra motors spun to 5500-5800 and they we're 5.0's with forged cranks, so i dont see why you couldnt safely get that high.

yea i was gonna put it at 6k max. or just kinda feel the motor you know? but is that the right way to set your tranny or should i just take it to a tranny shop? I have yet to take this car to any shop except for exhaust...and im proud of it! lol

lol good job, i would take it to a tuner shop, and let them find the best shift point for your motor, but if your not wanting to take it to a shop then i would set it at 5800rpm to be safe. that will allow a good bit of slop.

yea i have to pul the motor out here in the next couple of weeks for paint. was thinking of doing something to the motor while it is out. heads cam, maybe stroke. or maybe just drink a beer and stare at it.

+10
if you got the money do it all, or stroke it and have it tuned and your shift points set by a tuner shop

RE: RPM's

what does it normally cost to stroke a motor? bout 1,000 for the kit? probably about the same for labor.

RE: RPM's

~1000-1200 kit and if you disassemble the motor and all the prep work about 750-1000 for the shop to work it

the bore is ~10-15 per cyl
