Where are you located? Someone here might live near you and be willing to help you check out a car or two.. I know I would.

I'm 16 too and just bought a 68 coupe for $3800 bucks. I've been looking for a long time and I finally found the one. The guy was asking 6K for it, but he needed the money and took it for 3800(prolly could a got it for 3500). I got a good steal because it's in pretty nice shape(http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...g68/car003.jpg). I looked at a bunch of cars before I found the one. Just keep looking and you'll find a deal from an old lady or something.

Not to be the kill joy here, but before you go off buying one, talk to your insurance company and see what sort of rates you'll be looking at. Maintenance and insurance for a car this old and someone your age may be hard to swallow. Other than that, the advice everyone else has given you is a good base to go from.

16 years old + $5000 care = liability insurance only.

my insurance right after i got my license was around 100+- a month for liability only. I was insured on a 1973 Plymouth Scamp w/ a 318v8. Having a old car will give you a lower premium than a new car by far.

Well I'm not 16 yet. Still have a month and a half, but my parents are paying 45 a month I think for full coverage on my mustang. The people we bought it from had a 17 year old daughter and they only paid 65 a month with her insured on it. So it really depends on the engine. I have an I6. So i guess my insurance would double. It all depends on the motor.

check out your local craigslist. being 17 i know what your feeling (owning a 1970 coupe) and theres nothing like rolling up in the school parking lot knowing you have the only classic ford muscle those kids probly ever seen.

theres just nothing like those classic panty droppers (least at my school)
Well that is luck. At my school we have currently 1 67 Coupe. Then when i start there will be 2 67 coupes. Finally when my friend starts driving there will be 2 67 Coupes and 1 68 Coupe.
