66 mustang radiator support how to?

RE: 66 mustang radiator support how to?
It's not really that bad. You'll need to disassemble the front of your car,(valance, stone guard, grill, headlight assemblies, wiring harness, radiator, battery, a/c equip.etc). Pre-drill the lower radiator support flanges, or if you're going to re-use yours, use a Unibit to drill out the spotwelds during disassembly and this step will be done. Measure and cut a piece of angle-iron and clamp it to the strut rod supports to maintain their position BEFORE you start cutting. My fenders were off the car, so I was able to clamp another piece of angle-iron to the upper fender aprons as well. If you can't find a clever way to clamp something there, measure the distance between them BEFORE you start cutting. Make sure you measure from the same spot to insure consistency. Now that you have RECORDED your measurments, and clamped your temporary braces, you can remove the radiator support. I used a cut-off wheel and a uni-bit. You can drill out the spot welds, as this also get's you set up for the install, providing a hole to "plug" weld the new support to your aprons.(When it's all cut out, your aprons will haveholes in them, you support will not...). Clamp the new support into place with vise grips. Check alignment. Weld into place.Clamp lower radiator frame support into place. Verify correct, and weld. I'll post a few pics...
