When painting the block, does the plugs (freeze out plugs?) get painted blue or do the stay unpainted? (1966-289)

Also my convertible top is black and in good shape-it seems to have started to fade over the years.It looks silver/gray,not a deep black-besides washing the top,what is good to treat the top with....I was thinking of using some Amour All spray on a rag and wiping it down..any suggestions?

Don't use Armour All! This will actually dry it out and make it crack. Use a top cleaner and conditioner. I like the Mothers stuff.

Thanks-I didnt see a mothers top cleaner at auto zone yesterday-will try another store today.

last I checked origonally wern't the blocks painted black with gold valve covers. and the freeze plugs weren't painted. but I'll look it up and see if I'm right

it depends. some builders paint em the same color of the motor or some leave em gold.
