Of course its a PITA... You gotta wire everything up from the front of the car (engine) to the rear (gas tank). Don't even think about it without a donor car, or one of those super un-necessarily expensive aftermarket FI setups. A F/I 5.0 in your stang would be hella cool. Be prepared to spend lotsa time getting it looking good and going. Good luck with it, I'd like to see you do it.

I converted my -68 FB from 289" 2VC4 to 5.0 SEFI T5 with exellent result! The engine itself fits perfect in the engine bay, I used cast exhaust manifolds from 289HP(you can use anything used on-67-68) together with oxygensensors en the primary exhaustpipes and Flowmaster 50-series mufflers(great sound!!) The transmission shifter from the T5 came straight up into the original opening and I bolted on a stock toploader-shifter for authentic look. I used the entire engine-compartment wiring harness from a wrecked -89 mustang together with the computer. You can use an automatic transmission computer on a manual but not the other way around. I used the timing cover and waterpump together with all pulleys from my old 289" (I blocked the fuelpump opening though) but had to redrill the boltholes on the crank-pulley.(no problem)For fuel delivery I used a mercedes 300 fuel pump, this pump is mounted externally from the tank and has the correct pressure. You can pick one up at the salvage yard together with the mounting bracket and rubber fasteners. Nylon fuel line from the fueltank(OE-outlet is OK) and return to the cover(I drilled and installed a line-fitting)where the gauge sending unit's attached, works great! I bought premade cowlsupport-brackets from Windsor-Fox. Instead of using the OE fanI used an electric unit(flat-wide type)that just fit inside the fan-shroud and run it by thermo-switch and relay. Use all relays and sensors from the donor-car. Of cause there are some more details to it all but it is not very difficult to do this transplant and the end result is pretty good!

Good luck!

I am a big fan if new engines in old cars and old engines in new cars, I don't know why. Something about it just floats my boat.
