Just because it fits doesn't mean its the best choice
IMO a 429 out of an old truck is going to need a lot of work. It will be cammed all wrong, have very low compression and at the min should get a new cam, springs, lifters, intake, and prob carb to even get it started down the 'performance' aspect that you are prob. expecting from it and at the max a full bore rebuild to up the compression if you are looking for gobs of power.
The Boss429 had special heads that you are not going to get out of the truck motor.
Just for expectation setting a 429 out of a mid 70s passenger car (I beleive that's where he got it) dynod at: 267 RWHP and 320 trq

That's not to say you can't make a fun ride out of it. I know in 69 the 429 in t-birds were still pretty potent and a blast to drive even though they didn't have the boss heads but after that performance went south with the gas crunch and the motor in the truck is tuned to do something very different than a performance oriented car.
If you car didn't come with a BB originally you will also need a new tranmission, motor mounts, radiator, and exhaust.

the 429 with a couple grand into it is worth more than its weight in gold IMO read that article(s).

There are quite a few performance parts emerging for the 429/460 (385 series) engines. It will be kind of expensive to modify this into a performance engine, butit can be potent...
As stated, you will need a cam at minimum to wake that thing up.

Depends the 429 theres a normal one a thunderjet a cobra jet a super cobra jet and the boss.A ford big block is a little pricey to build but worth it to me the 429scj made 375hp 450foot pounds stock you can build some big numbers with enough money.
