1 wire alternator question
I bought a single wire alternator for the Mustang.
Do I need to keep the old external regulator in place or do I unplug it & take it out? |
RE: 1 wire alternator question
unplug it and take it out, all or all but 1 of the wires going in to the regulator goes to the alternator so if you have your regulator hooked up with three wires there is nothing to it, if your regulator has 4 wires you will need to hook up the 4th wire, but I don't remember where... hope its a 3 wires hook up ;)

So the only experience I have with the regulators is taking them off. ;) Oh well I will get this back up top to see if someone knows. |
RE: 1 wire alternator question
I found a wiring diagram & it looks like the old reg shouldn't be needed & removing it should be fine (in theory).
I'll swap thealtout soon & post an update so we will know for sure if anything else needs to be done. |
RE: 1 wire alternator question
ORIGINAL: JMD :D:D I read the OP yesterday, I know I had previously read a post on the forum that said the regulator did something else besides regulating the alt, I was wondering if this was the case or not waiting for someone to answer this post. I stripped all of the original wires out of the 66 and went one wire also... So the only experience I have with the regulators is taking them off. ;) Oh well I will get this back up top to see if someone knows. |
