I was just out in the garage working on it. Getting the last of the rust and stain off. I worked in a body shop 35 years ago and was pretty good with straightening dents and doing Bondo and paint prep. I have never used metal filler. Given my experience I think I'll try it on my own. Any tips on how to useare appreciated.

Tried something different. If it doesn't work out this is an easy place to get to but so far it seems good. This same stuff comes in several varieties and have used the plumbing variety to patch a hole in a water pipe with the water still under pressure and squirting out. That plumbing patch has been in place about 10 years now. This variety is for steel fabrication. I made a patch about 4 by 6 inches and pressed it into place, forcing it out through the holes on the other side. Took a while to sand it because it is really hard material. Anyway, I kind of liked this method because the steel near the holes probably was thin and this gave it some thickness back. I took the photo after just one coat of primer so you can still see the patch if you look close. And yes, I did remove the rest of the rust before doing this. I also treated the area with ospho in case there was any rust left in the pits or crevices. My only screw up was I caused a stress crack where the arrow indicates. Without the valance attached this part flexes a lot and I worked it a lot getting all the rust out. I'll drill a little stop hole on the crack and patch it with more of this stuff.
