Best carb for 289?

RE: Best carb for 289?
I'm running a long rod 302 with heads, roller cam, pretty much all the bolt ons etc, and I'm only running 570cfm. I don't know exactly where it runs out of breath, but when I shift at around 6-6.2k, it's still got plenty of steam left in it. If anything I should prolly be shifting closer to 6,500.
77, I noticed that too, everyone now likes 570cfm.....just not enough to buy your carb. Too bad there isn't a way to change the air bleeds on it.

ht, my fairly radical 302 ran better with a 600 on it than it did with a 650 DP or a 650 vacuum secondaries. now, im sure i didnt have them dialed in nearly as good as they should have been, but the point is a 650 is too damn big for a stock or mild 289.
mustangdemon, thanks [8D]. the sooner i can move this carb the sooner i can get the proform i need. funny everyone was talking about 570's every day and now that i have one nobody has bought it [&:]
Well a samller carb on a radical 289 probably will run better (streetabilty wise) with a smaller carb as it helps cover up low end loss and throttle response loss caused by a big cam and low vacuum signal, my buddies 289 was 9.8 compression, erson cam 214 478
mildly ported c90e 351w heads with chev valves. First combo was performer int and 600 holley, ran good, replaced carb with 625 road demon way better all around, replaced int with summit (rpm knockoff) flatter torque curve and more power, put my 650 speed demon on it (untouched) and it ran even better from low end to top end absolutely perfect carb for that engine.

the problem with the 390 is its only about 195 cfm on the front two barrels and if your only driving around town or looking for low end power your not going to get much from 195 cfm. the 2bbl stock autolite will do better than that ya know?
put it to you this way, we had a 500 cfm carter on my buddies 4.3 chevy V6 and went to a 390....... it got noticeably slower and that motor is smaller than your 289.
