engine swap

can anyone tell me if a 76 or 77 351w will go into a 67 mustang that had a 289 by just swapping the motor mounts?

RE: engine swap

dont even need to swap the motor mounts although the 65 style will provide a slight drop but will make plug changes more of a chore check out the faq on the classic home page theres more info on the swap and welcome to the forums

RE: engine swap

The three issues I can think of off the top of my head are Hood clearance, alternator bracket, and power steering bracket. The first just means before you slam the hood after you swap, make sure you are going to clear the hood when it is closed, you may need a shorter air filter assembly. The second depends on whether your 351w still has it's alternator bracket or not, You may have to buy/make an adapter plate so the large bolt can attatch to the cylinder head and get a shorter bolt. The third depends on if your car has power steering, basically the same as the alternator bracket, either buy or make a bracket so the main mounting bolt can attach to the cylinder head.

Hope this helps

You'd also need new exhaust manifolds/headers
