start the engine outside of the car?
stupid question: I just picked up a IL6 and c4 for my new 65 coupe for the fiancee. ($150, both rebuilt)
When i picked it up, he started it up real quick for me to hear it run before i bought it.
How doI do this? I've never done it before, so what all do i need, and how do i do it?
Thanks!

RE: start the engine outside of the car?
This isnt really a big deal. You should have an engine stand that will support the engine and transmission, a fuel source, and a battery. The engine stand needs to be kinda wide at the base to compensate for torque when the engine is started and accelerated. Opps...forgot about a water source, gonna need that unless you plan on using this new engine to show others how an engine will explode or seize when over heated too much. We use this kind of setup when we test airplane engines after rebuild and dont want to reinstall it before giving it a test run. You can fix any leaks that show up with all the open space arund it you need.
