Default Stock 8 in rear end

Would my II's rear end be able to hold 375-400 hp if I build it up a little bit with near gears and possi?

Or am I just wasting my money on the 8 in?

I'm running my 8" with 300rwhp or a bit over and it does fine, on street tires at least. Stock axles too. Whether it survives or not will have a lot to do with how you drive and the tires you use.

i had a 68 cpe with a 330 hp 306, 4:11s in an 8" rear with a 5spd trans and pounded the hell out of it and it held together, although id recommend the 9" for anything 350hp and over, one good launch and you might need a shovel to pick up all the pieces!

Nice help, but where could I find a replacement rear end that will so to say "bolt right up" to my driveline or should I get a new driveline too? Are there websites that sell rear ends for my year?
