Default with 289 heads and block with comp cams magnum roller tip rockers

can I expect my push rods to be stock / longer / shorter? Or should I really purchase a tool to measure?
I do notice that the lifters are taller with the comp cam than the stock ones were.

expect that they will be longer. I installed the same rockers, with roller lifters, and needed 6.125's....

I would expect the stock length to be close.
Run the engine a while and then remove a rocker. Look for the wear mark on the valve tip. It should be centered and about .080" wide. If it's off center the length is wrong.
You may have to apply sharpi marker to the tip then install the rocker and crank the engine to get a good visible mark.
Don't waste your money on a check tool.

If you are not saying make an adjustable pushrod as apposed to buying one, this would be very poor information. You say if the wear mark is not centered and .080" wide, the length is wrong. But how do you expect to find out what the proper length should be without an adjustable pushrod? Pushrod length is a key eliment of rocker geometry and stability.
Check link for proper measuring:
http://www.compcams.com/Technical/FA...inGeometry.asp

And no, you don't have to buy an adjustable pushrod to do the measuring, you can make one out of an old pushrod cut in half and some 1/4"x20 threaded rod.

Thanks for the link. Useful stuff.

Question: Do the roller tip rockers have a true pivot point, as do the true rollers, or do they slide a little when they pivot?

Do I make same assumptions, based on rub mark, if I have rockers with roller tips verses a true roller rocker?
