How much more do the sheet metal fenders weigh than the fiberglass style??

Did the original shelbys use fiberglass fenders??

ive got fiberglass fenders from www.maierracing.com they fit alright mine are flared 1.5 inchs

they were not to wavy. but the gap at the door jamb on the left fender, left a little to be desired. but all in all they were good.

The weight savings of FG fenders is not 400%. While I agree that the "Fiberglass's density is ~24% of steel", to provide structural rigidity, the FG fenders aremuch thicker than the OEM steel ones. This reduces the weight savings considerably. I've used the UP FG fenders that are (still) being made by Doug out at SW Fabricators andI'd venture to guess that the FG fenders are more than half the weight of OEM fenders. Expect a 30-40% reduction in weight.

yeah i dont know if these were half the weight but probably close to it, the feders along with the hood, rmodel valance, and rear decklid should add up to a few pounds. i also deleted the quarter windows and the rear seat and ps so i hope to have shaved at least 200pounds

I know that there is a company that makes an entire fiberglass front clip. That is, the hood, fender, bumper, valance, stone gaurd, headlight buckets, etc, is ONE fiberglass peice. If I was going to replace steel with FG, I'd go ahead and do the whole front.

Yeah, it'd be a pain in the *** when you needed to get to the engine, but I think it'd be worth it.

yeah they probably would but i wouldnt go that far for a street car.

Why not? Lower doors are always a rust issue anyways so you'll be fixing that problem aswell. I forget how much they are, a pretty penny no doubt...500ea. I think
