Door won't open
I have a 68 coupe. This week-end a replaced the screwa around the door latch. I only had 1 screw in there and figured I lost the other 2. So I when down to the hardware store and got 3 screws that were close. The only difference is that the were probably an inch long. After putting them in, I shut the door and haven't been able to open it since. I've tried both inside and outside handles, but no luck.. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Ouch that stinks. Hope you can figure that out. I've never heard of that happening. Also welcome to the forums.

RE: Door won't open
Pull the door panel and try getting to from inside the shell. The latch might be bound up and you can free it that way.

RE: Door won't open
Cost wasn't the only reason Ford didn't make their screws / bolts an inch longer each. There are pretty intelligent design features to these cars. No idea what going on, but hope you learned a lesson about keeping things pretty close to original... ;)

RE: Door won't open
He didn't say the screws were an inch LONGER, just that the ones he used were an inch long. How much longer than the original screw were they?

problem solved. |
RE: Door won't open
the screws were maybe a 1/2 inch longer. As far as going in to window. That thought was crossing my mind, I was kind of hoping not to have "Dukes of Hazzard" it. But who knows it might be cool that way.:D
