Default JBA Exhaust or HIPO or Hedman

I have read the exhaust and header posts for weeks now and I need some help. I havea 65 mustang with a V8, PS and Auto. I want a shorty header because I want to keep a mild 289 and don't want any installation problems. I want an easy problem free installation (I hope).I amlooking seriously at the JBA 1650s, Hedman 88400 orHIPO.Any recommendations for quality and ease of install. I already know the HIPO's wont have the performance, but they should be a easy fit. Thanks.

I'd recommend some ceramic coated JBA's. They're pricey, but everyone I've talked to that has them loves them. Fit and finish is supposed to be excellent.

I'm very happy with my JBA ceramic shorties. The quality is excellent and no problems with the install. Iwould definately recommend them over the HIPOs.

You can get them in a ceramic. Go online and search on Summit or Jegs. You could also go to heddmans website and get the part number from them. I have ceramic heddmans, and they weren't in the catalog, but they were online and in stock at Jegs.

I went with the Heddman 88408 for half the cost of JBAs. Even though they're supposed to be "thermal coated", whatever that means, I went ahead and had them ceramic coated and still saved over $100 over the JBAs. The fit is incredibly easy and they bolt up easy and don't leak.

I plan to go with the ceramic JBA headers on my 302. From what I've read and heard from other people that have bought them there were no complaints, even with the higher price tag.

I put the JBA shortys on the fastback and they are a thing of beauty. Excellent fit and finish with nice thick flanges and no leaks.

absolutely, without question, purchase ceramic coated. You'll be happy you did. A high quality coating is worth every penny, not only to keep the header clean, but also keeps the under-hood temps down, with quick cool downs.

THe ceramic is way to expensive, I will probably go with the JBA stainless steel. I just hope it will work with PS, A/C and auto trans. On my stock manifolds there is a tube that is connected to the carb. What do I do with it when I get the headers. Also anyone else with experience on header clearance?
