Default 67 & 68 mustang

im inlove with the look of the 67 mustang but i can seem to figure out if the 68 is the same exact car....i know that the grill is different but is there a way to make the grill on a 68 look like the 67 grill? can someone point out the difference between the two years to me...and im only talking body not engine

Both 67 and 68 are very similar. Grill on 68 doesn't have the horizontal bars on the corral, (not certain how easy it would be to add them). The 68 was the first year that Mustang didn't have F-O-R-D on the front of the hood. The twin side scoops were replaced with a one piece chrome unit and the MUSTANG on the side of the front fenders was script instead of block. The 68 also had mandatory front and rear side markers. The fuel cap also changed. I think that's it for body changes, nothing major, just cosmetic tweeks.

I like the side scoops on the 67 better than the 68. I have never been able to figure the stock steering wheel on the 67. No offense to anyone who likes it but I just don't get it. My 68 had a Pop Open Gas Cap which really looked nice. I don't know if they offered that in 67.

I dont know for sure about the grill but since the majority of 67-68 parts are interchangeable, and I dont think Ford made any changes to the dimensions of the grill, I would think the 67 grill could be made to work on a 68 without too much trouble.
But if you have a 68, don't dismiss the front grill too quick, it can be made to look really nice. I painted the backing on mine black and it made the chrome corral and surround look really sharp, IMHO.

I would probably just call a knowledgeable parts vendor like maybe CJ Pony Parts and tell them what you want to do and see what they think. Others on here might have better info for you though.......

Here's mine (just ignore my Anti Let's-look-under-the-hood-of-that-Mustang lock):

that pictures really helped me see what i wanted....i like the mustang in the corral but i dont like the bigger corral on the outside...can i just take that off ? or do i have to get a new grill to do that? does it just unscrew off?

I think all the 68s had the turn signal markers in the hood-where only some of the 67s had it.....Maybe wrong on that statement. Scott

Also the 68 steering column was collapsible compared to the 67 which isn't. And, if I remember correctly the 68 came standard with shoulder harnesses.(correct me if I'm wrong here)
The steering wheel also changed, and I think the dash pad had more padding but I'm not sure on that one either.

As for the grille, they are interchangeable, when I bought my car it had a grille off of a 68 on it..

the 68 has ungly side markers in the rear and front quarter's. YES the 67 grill will work on the 68. I do feel the 68 gas cap look a bit better as well.
