I'm beyond frustrated
 

For the last two months Ive been having problems with motor mounts. First I'll give you a little background. About four years ago I swapped out the 302 and C4 in my 68 for a 390 and C6. Well I was on leave from the military so I didn't get to finish. I'm out now and getting back into it. The problem I have is I cannot find the correct motor mounts to fit the 390. I got the 390 from my father(he rebuilt it) but he's not sure what year the block actually is, he's 65 so I'll blame it on his age.

Anyway, the strange part is the 302 mounts actually bolt up (the distance between the bolts is apox 4". They basically look like this http://johnsmustang.com/pictures/cla.../c8mm-2333.jpg).

But the old brackets won't work so I bought a new set. The brackets are not the problem, but the new mounts I bought that are for the 390 won't bolt to the block. The distance between the bolt holes is 5 1/4". Basically, I'm trying to find mounts that have 4" diameter between the bolts, butfunction like thesemounts

I would just go to the mustang store in my area but they jerked me around on these mounts for over a month and they know nothing about customer service. Please help. I know this is going to be confusing.

No, a 390 is an FE engine. Try some mounts for like a 74 Ford truck witha 360, its also an FE block. But its weird that a 302 mount bolts up to the block... an FE should have different mounts. Have you called NPD and asked them what you need?

No I havent called NPD. Where on the block can I look to find out the correct info on it?

The casting info should be on the passenger side of the engine, where the starter notmally sits when it's bolted to the transmission. If you want to find the year the first digit is the decade starting with A=40's and the next digit is the year. So a C9xx casting ID would mean the engine was cast in 1969, D1xx would be a 1971 casting, etc.

I'll measure the distance between the bolts on my 390 tonight. I have some TCP mounts on order from MU
and if they ever answer my email or ship the new mounts you are welcome to the old mounts, for the cost
of shipping ( from Japan - I guess about US$65 but need to check ).
