Default My mustang nearing paint

My mustang is finally nearing the paint stage. I took it in May 1st and here it is 3 months later to the day. I will post updated photos about every week until it's painted. I have included some pics of the car when I first got it about 20 months ago. It should be painted by hte end of Aug/first part of Sept.

It looks real good and sure has come a LONG way. Wait until you see her for the first time in fresh paint. What colors have you decided on? Are you 110% sure that you brought every piece of the body that gets painted body color to the painters? I painted my seventh classic Mustang last Spring and you'd have thought I'd have learned by now, but no. I always forget to paint at least one darn piece.

Little things like the ash tray and the glove box have bitten me. The headlight rings on 67-68 cars got me before. This last time it was the headlight doors on a '66 (I don't know how I overlooked those).

Keep us posted with progress pics!

Dave

edit... Steering column?

Thanks for the compliments. I have everything to him, I hope. I will double check my parts delivered to him when I get home. Next week, he's slapping on 4 coats of primer, then he is going camping with his kids before they sart school. So next week it should be in primer. This is one of the biggest milestones with this car. I will **** my pants when I see it for the first time in paint. I am painting it black, of course, with flat black racing stripes.

Good paint choice. I'm sure it's going to turn out great.

Time to go home now and finish the upholstery job, only thing left is to recover the bottom of the rear seat. Saved the best for last.

You have done a lot of work. It looks great. I love Black, but have never got up the nerve.

I've never owned a black car before but how can I not paint this one black? I've always wanted a black car and this is the perfect first one. It will give me reason to spend time with her, washing her every weekend.
