Default smog pump in a 66?

I am looking at upgrading my ignition and I have found one that is for an I6 (what I have) with a smog pump? Is this referring to the PCV valve? I do believe the 66's had one correct?

I may not be an expert, but I believe the smog pump didn't come out until 68, 69, and they were dependant upon motor and tranny type. It was an absolute necessity in 70-71. I know i CA, you are exempt from smog due to age of the vehicle

I had a smog pump on my 66 coupe with a 289. Just rip it off and cap off the valve.

Smog pump is for air injection into the exhaust, usually at the manifold near each exhaust port. I've never owned a car that came equipped with one, but I think I'd rather run a high-flow catalytic converter or two.

A PCV valve/system is a good thing to have, as it does a much better job of eliminating fumes from the crankcase. Anything that's in the fumes probably isn't worth much in terms of either lubrication quality or metal surface protection, so it's best to clear that stuff out as fast as it develops instead of letting it condense back into the oil. As a side note, there is a few HP to be had from so-called "pan evacuation" systems that actually maintain the sump at some amount of vacuum.

Not all emission control technologies are anti-performance.

If you have a smog pump, it will be belt driven, never seen one on a 6 cyl Ford before, so I can not be real specific except to say that if your car has more than an alternator, fan/water pump, power steering pump, and an air conditioning compressor that is belt driven then you have a smog pump. (of course you may not have a/c or power steering,,,)

A smog pump will have pipes running from the pump into the exhaust manifold or directly into the exhaust ports of the head, (I think directly into the head on the Fords!).
