I'm in trouble!!!

okay, so i was cleaning my engine( just what i could reach w/o doing anything), because i just got it 2-3 days ago. so anyways, i took off these blue covers(headers maybe) and cleaned them and put them back on. well, there was a metal line connected to the carb and i figured i would take it off to clean a hard to reach spot... and it broke[:'(]. does any one know what i did, how to fix it, or how much this part costs? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!![sm=feedback.gif]

Just a guess, but is sounds like those blue things are valve covers and the hose you broke was either the PCV valve or the hose that connects it to the carb. Either way it only cost a few bucks. Just take the old part to the parts house and let them match it up for you.

You said it was a metal line...like a pressure line? Did anything come out of the line when you disconnected it? Knowing that might help figure out what broke, and how easily it can be replaced.

Most likely, the auto parts store should have a direct replacement for it. Otherwise, they will probably hand you a length of line and some fittings and say, "good luck".

well when it broke i started to smell gas, and i think i now know what it is, it's the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb. and i was wondering, what is this "part house" that you mentioned.

Napa
Autozone
Checker
Pep Boys
etc.

Whatever is in your area.

the blue covers are your valve covers and the hard metal line is the gas line that goes from the fuel pump to carb

You're not in trouble. If the fuel line broke that easily, then it needs replacing anyhow. Just take it to an auto supply place and get a new one like it.

Please don't take this the wrong way; it's not meant to be insulting or condescending... But if you don't know a valve cover from a header (or what an auto parts dealer is), then perhaps you shouldn't just yank parts off your engine left and right. Buy yourself a reproduction Shop Manual from a Mustang parts vendor first. Read it and become familiar with the basic concepts it contains. Find out what you should and shouldn't remove on a whim.
