does anyone know the best way about replacing the steering components on my 67, I need to fix it asap. my steering wheel is very loose. and ive traced it back to the steering box, but today the front wheels started acting up separately and its time to get it fixed.

does anyone have any 67-68 steering components they are not using? does anyone have any recommendations about where or what to get? pretty much the steering box down is going to have to get replaced.

CJ Pony parts man, Have that same exact problem and I'm about to order a set from them. They sell a full kit or individual parts. Also, let me know about the cars. I'm interested.

fyi go to autozone you can rent a pitman arm puller for like 20 bucks, i just finished rebuilding my steering

As a side note, you shouldn't need to replace the pitman arm. It's not a normal wear component.

ahh this is true but if he has the same problem i did he will, the piece that hooks up to the pitman arm is a pressed fit, and you might not be able to get it out.

I hear that have the old steering boxes rebuilt is a better choice than going with a new after market one like flaming river...I dont know...I have the FR box and im pretty happy with it.

Yeah, you still have to remove it and install it on the new box. You just don't have to buy a new one

You shouldn't have any play or sloppiness with either system, assuming everything's nice and tight. Not saying I like the power assist ram style power steering, but it shouldn't be slopppy, just numb.

manual steering and brakes FTW i jsut bought the power to manual adaptor so i didnt have to by a new drag link, the idiots that raced it before i got it just took the power steering pump off and cut the lines.
