Where do you live? I have an old school Torker high rise single plane 289 manifold left over from my previous 289 that I had in the car. I live in Fayetteville, North Carolina...If you live close you can have it. Send me a PM and I can send you my phone number, I'll just charge shipping to you....not sure how much that would be.

Wow, an original Torqer? Nice intakes, but a bit much for all but the wildest 289's.

I agree with Starfury. Any single plane is too much for a 289 unless it's built for max high end horsepower.

I do indeed have an Edelbrock Performer 289. That's what it says on the manifold. I don't know how old it is, but it is ideal for a mildly modified 289. I'm not interested in selling it, but I would highly recommend it if you can find one on ebay or something.

It has runners and ports that match the 289 perfectly.

I also have the Performer and am happy with it. The way I understand it is, Dual Plane manifolds have better performance at the lower rpm's than single plane manifolds.

Summit Racing sells the Edelbrock Performer (Dual Plane) for $160 plus shipping at summitracing .com.

I had a polished performer for sale for the past year, just sold it for $80 bucks a few weeks ago.

If you want to buy into the notion that McCain is the same as Bush then that's fine. It's funny though that he has gone toe to toe with Bush over many issues.

Of course you can choose obama socialism if you please. That's why we have elections so that you can choose. Of course in this years case it's Acorn that gets to choose, not you or I.

A dual plane basically divides the intake tract into two, four cylinder engines. This presents much less plenum volume to one side of the carbureter presenting a sharper pulse to the carburetor causing better carburetion at slow engine speeds. This makes for better throttle response and better low RPM power as you claim.

The current Performer is not the same as the earlier Performer 289. The Performer 289 has smaller runners and plenum volume resulting in a better match for a stock head 289 giving even better low to mid range power and throttle response.
