No problem. I think it's worth 100k. How many of these could there have been? Weren't they the 150 or so cars one was required to make to race in NASCAR?

Anyone else notice how wide the front tires are? Wow.

i think it was 300 to be considered production cars, now it's 500 IIRC.

You learn something new everyday. I did not know that this engine was ever put in cars except Boss 429's.

While in college in 1972 I came close to buying a 24K mile Boss 429 for $2400. I couldn't get anyone to loan me the money. I knew, even then, that it would be THE collector Mustang of the future, but I couldn't buy it. That was before Mustang collecting as a hobby had even been dreamed of yet.

BTW, does that car have an engine in it?

Well.. that IS a boss 429... and based on the photo of the engine in the car, the description mentioning the engine, and that face that the front end isnt sitting high into the air, I'm going to wager a guess that yes, it does have the engine.

I couldn't agree more. For those who have money a year from now, there will indeed be some collector car bargains. What I expect to see is the cars go back into the hands of the enthusiasts rather than be used for currency by wealthy folks who don't know a spark plug from a spare tire.

It's (supposed to be anyway) a free country. If someone who has no true appreciation for collector cars wants to own them then that's fine. I have thought that the shame of it all is that those people like myself who have a loving passion for certain cars, have no hope whatsoever of owning some of them.

I agree for some of the mid-range classic cars, like 30-60k cars, but I still think (and this auction confirms it) that the super premium stuff will never plummet.

The nice things about cars, versus the subjective brilliance of a 1959 Les Paul ($500,000 guitar) or a Van Gogh, is that regular folks like you and I have the option of building a clone that will be 100% of the same function as an original for a fraction of the cost.

This 429 is amazing of course, but you could build a clone for less than half of what this will go for.

That is amazing. Imagine buying something like that new for around 5k and selling it for over 70k in the current condition... only if we could time travel
