Tire Size for 15's?
I just got a PM from someone new to the site and he is still confused on how it works so I'm making this thread for him. Since I know nothing about classics or tire sizes under 18", I'll let you guys answer his question. :D
"Im a little confused by the site, however I did find your name. I have a 67 coupe with a 289. I have 14" wheels and want to go to 15 What size would be most optimum Thank You" -Bob H |
Optimum is a tricky word. It sounds as if he just wants to go a little bigger, so a 15"x7" rim with 3 3/4" or 4" backspacing would fit very nice with most 15" tire sizes.

I agree with Oxnard

215/60 15 all around is a conservative, nice size. I plan to do 205 front, 225 rear.

15x7 3.75 backspacing.....215 60 15 is far from conservative. It is hit or miss with more people reporting rubbing problems in the front than not. Rolling the fender lip and/or better specs solves the issue. On a 15x7 wheel 4.25 is the most backspacing you can run and allows you to stuff the most tire in the wheel well for the front. Go to my website in sig link and pull up the charts that show suspension combos and the wheel/tires people are running on them (real people, not numbers from a magazine) |

Only because I'm waiting for this to errupt into another big wheel vs. little wheel, 65/66 vs. 67+ debate. Oh, the wheel chart is outstanding! |
Love the wheel chart....thanks!

Great site..I should add that to the FAQs!
