Mike's new wheels from OE
Mike got his wheels and tires today. We really lucked out! These 17 x 9 wheels were $410 from our good forum buddy OE Wheels and they are beautiful! We also walked into Town Fair Tires looking for 245/45-17 tires and bought the last 4 Avon's that were discontinued for $60/each. Last Saturday, we went up to Mustangs Unlimited (about 45 minutes away) and picked up their wheel adapters that allow you to use newer Mustang wheels on a 1968. These fit, but we will have to roll the fender lip. I tried them stop to stop and through the range of control arm movement and while they are close, they didn't hit anything. Check it out.
The rear wheel requires you to remove the axle and press in these longer 2" studs (Mike pulled the axles last night and the shop up the street is replacing the studs): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...25-09016-1.jpg You then use this spacer under the wheel: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1-25-09014.jpg The front wheels use a bolt on adapter 1" adapter with 1 1/2"studs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1-25-09017.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1-25-09018.jpg I was a bit skeptical about these wheels at first, but I have to say they look great! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...25-09013-1.jpg And even better mounted on the car: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1-25-09019.jpg These Avon's are nice and meaty: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1-25-09020.jpg And finally, he temporarily bolted on the trunk lid and extensions. They actually fit pretty well (better than mine!): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1-25-09003.jpg |
Looks good. I really want to get me a set of those rims in black, but they won't fit...

6 spoke, interesting.
What kind of power do you expect to be pushing? Don't take this the wrong way, but those tires don't look like amazing performance tires. I'm sure they're better than my BFG Radial T/A's, but they're a long step away from true modern performance tires. |
Tad, I totally agree (although, they are actually 7 spoke). Mike has a stock A-code engine and it will not see anything more than the stock HP (230 HP I believe?).

Thanks for your business and always feel free to send us pics or post them in our sponsor area. When our gallery is ready we'd love to have them on our website as well.
Thanks again! Lance |
Ah, gotcha. And yeah, 7 spoke...I guess that's why they don't look retarded, hehe. 6 spoke wheels just look weird.

I like em alot, I wonder if they would fit my 65?

Looking good, and moving along nicely.
