66 mustang hardtop - good buy?

considering buying a 66 mustang, guy will probably let it go for $800-1000
very similar condition and looks almost the same as this one here
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...3A1|240%3A1318
needs new bumpers, right side moulding, wheels, 8 289 engine is good 98k on it, has a hole in the floor under drivers seat, interior doesn't need much work
want to get it as a project car

Maybe, get some pictures up and let us look at it. Check the cowl for water leaks.

At the bottom of the listing it says the reserve is $2,900. I don't think I'd go that high on it.

He says it is similar to it. No the same car.

Cars that are under 1k usually need 4k or 5k in welding work. It's usually best to get a 3k car that doesn't need major welding. Be careful, look for rust EVERYWHERE. Check every inch of the underside of the car and the cowl.

If its similiar to the car on e-bay, it will be a big project. You've got much more rust than you think. Hole in the floorboard means cowl has major problems. Go carefully, Lunarweasel is right. Unless you have the ability to cut and weld yourself its going to be big money.
