Reassembly Questions
This will should be a long thread. I just picked up my 69 fastback from my painter. I am about to start reassembly so here are the first two questions on my mind. The first is I bought Ron Morris motor mounts with the 1/2 drop that are adjustable. I Went with these for the t-5 tranny, I read that if you use these mounts the tranny shifter would come right thru the center of the shifter hole on the tunnel. Am I not giong to have enough room for the 1/2 lower motor and move the engine back?
The sencond is I like the new billet gas caps but my stang had the pop open kind. Can I use a 70 with the twist off filler tube and have the billet caps work? I am sure I will have a ton of questions coming up. thanks Todd |
You cant tell us that you just got your car back from paint and not post PICS.

When all done I want to post pics of the complete process from what I started with (not much) to completion. I also want to put the final price on the restoration to help other people. I have done this with my GTO, 69 Camaro, and my 70 Challenger. My mustang will be my most frugle budget that I have set for myself yet. So we will see if I can stick to it. I will try to post some pics of were it is at this point.

I have blown my original budget. If I wouldn't have gone crazy with the motor I could have stuck to my budget.

I finally got to taking a couple of pics. I will take more as I go along. Has no one used the RMP lowering mounts or tried to go with the billet instead of the flip down cap? I got the suspension mostly in. I just need to replace the strut rods.

Sorry about that. This should work.

I have the RMP mounts in my 66 fastback with a TKO600 tranny. I also have a billet gas cap. I moved the engine back and the tranny fits fine. I don't know if you can use the twist off with the pop off neck.

Thanks I was worried that the motor was going to be too tight.
