I'm driving !!!
woohoooooooo
i got the car started alright, but the thing would not idle a bit. once the rpms dropped below 2000 it just switched off. You can hear that in the video i made for the 'she's running post'. This time a lot of F's went flying around, my poor buddies got all sorts of abuse. not knowing what to do I changed the 650 Edelbrock with the good known 570 holley that I have. Exact same problem --> has to be ignition. I reset the distributor, same thing. I replaced the whole cable going to ignition (coil+). I was completely out of ideas as I blocked the PCV and all vacuum lines. Mate said vacuum leak, i said: where? does my intake have a hole or what. And believe it or not the rpm manifolds have an additional pickup in the back that I didn't see before. Even with engine out I didn't see that. Big celebrations. (3 hours wasted due to my stupidity) I adjusted ignition and carb and she's driving very nice. I have jitter just off idle and the power kicks in rather randomly so I'm still far away from finished tuning it. But when it decides to pull .... WOW! Anyway the edelbrock will go back on and timing re-done. I believe I'm too advanced from the way it feels. Will do that anotyher night, for now I'm delighted it's driving and hey ... the best bit! I don't feel those nasty vibrations at 50mph anymore. I don't know if it was the pilot bearing or the new engine (different position) or the fact that i didn't spend much time cruising at 50mph (only accellerating at those speeds) but I'll keep my eye on it. For once happy days! And I'll make a new video very soon so I have the 289 and 302 side by side in youtube Kalli |
congrats dude,...keep us posted with a video
